The research in this area focuses on understanding the mechanisms by which these live bacteria interact with the human body, contribute to health, and potentially prevent or treat various conditions.

Project Brief
Regulatory Technology, or RegTech, is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of modern financial systems, particularly in Taiwan’s evolving financial landscape. As financial institutions increasingly leverage emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and blockchain, the need for innovative solutions to manage compliance and regulatory requirements has never been greater. Taiwan is uniquely positioned as a burgeoning market for RegTech, driven by recent legislative developments such as the Financial Technology Development and Innovation Experimentation Act, which established a regulatory sandbox regime.
This introduction provides a roadmap for developing RegTech in Taiwan, highlighting the challenges and opportunities within this space, and drawing comparisons with leading examples from the UK and Australia. As Taiwan continues to advance its financial technology capabilities, RegTech will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficiency of its financial markets.

It highlights the leadership of key figures such as Dr. Chen Shih-Chung and Vice-President Mr. Chen Chien-Jen in managing these challenges. Taiwan’s experience with SARS in 2003 and H1N1 in 2009 helped the country develop strong health measures, including timely communication, travel warnings, and the production of essential medical supplies. Despite being excluded from the WHO, Taiwan successfully controlled these outbreaks with its own strategies, showing a commitment to protecting public health.
